Attend a CryptoParty to learn and teach how to use basic cryptography tools. A CryptoParty is free, public and fun. People bring their computers, mobile devices, and a willingness to learn! CryptoParty is a decentralized, global initiative to introduce the most basic cryptography software and the fundamental concepts of their operation to the general public.

Held at the Langham Hotel, hosted by the Open Source Developers' Conference, this event is open to the public.

What Happened?

  • Ben Dechrai: Welcome intro type thing
  • Ben Dechrai: What is GPG, how does it work?
  • Ben Dechrai: How Tor works, an interpretive performance with six parts.
  • Two people [feel free to add your name in if you want attribution] described The Freenet Project and how this can be used to securely store your data in a network construct that doesn't materialise online in the traditional sense.
  • David Basden: “The packet sniffer in your NorthBridge”; David discussed the Intel AMT he found in his new laptop, and how this can grant third parties with pre-BIOS and -OS access to modern computers.

There were three people who created new GPG keys, and a key signing event occurred, after which we all went to the pub.
