WHAT

In an era of mass, suspicionless surveillance and digital capitalism fuelled by our private information, CRYPTOPARTY puts power and privacy back in the people's hands.

Come for free workshops on how to protect yourself in digital spaces.

Stay for crypto-themed cocktails, local craft beer, music, visuals and high spirits.

All are warmly welcome - total beginners are particularly welcome, as are expert helpers and cryptoangels.

WORKSHOPS

Workshops are 45 mins and run in 4 parallel tracks from 19:15 - 20:00 and 20:30 - 21:15.

  • Stay safe online: open source browsers, privacy plug-ins, and the Tor Browser / Sarah @sarahazouvi, Alex Hicks @alexanderlhicks
  • Encrypted communications with GPG and Signal / Fabio @fnstudio
  • Cryptocurrencies / Sara @saronimo and Simon @simonvc
  • Privacy Genius Bar: a drop-in privacy support station for queries and hands-on help / @silkiecarlo, @musalbas, and blue-t-shirted-friends

TALKS

Lightening talks will run in two sessions, from 19:00 - 19:10 and 20:00 - 20:10.

  • Workshop or party? Whys and hows of the cryptoparty movement / Silkie and Fabio
  • Hack your way out of an Orwellian dystopia. Off the Grid, game or metaphor? / Rich Metson (@richmetson)
  • Open Rights Group (ORG) and its fight against censorship and online surveillance / Maddy Fry (@maddyfryabides)
  • A real-world scenario of surveillance-enabled oppression during the Arab spring / Mustafa Al-Bassam (@musalbas)

MUSIC, DIGITAL ART, GAMING

  • 19:15 - 22:00: Live gaming session with @OffGridTheGame
  • 22:00 - 23:30: DJ set by rjhode courtesy of Reckon Digital

You should bring:

  • Laptop (Windows, Mac, or Linux. Bring your personal laptop - you may not be able to install software on work-owned laptops)
  • Laptop charger
  • Smart phone

Other:

  • For advanced training, clean USB sticks can be handy
  • Any relevant skills, stickers or leaflets you want to share
