Sacramento's Hacker Lab is having our second cryptoparty!

Where : The Hacker Lab, 1715 I St. Sacramento, CA 95811

When : December 6th, 2013 @ 6:00 PM

What : Sacramento's cryptoparty is a free social gathering for discussion of all things security. We're open to all skill levels and interests and hope to teach the community about encryption and security basics.

For our second cryptoparty, we will focus on both Off-the-Record (OTR) Messaging and email encryption. This includes a demo of using OTR chat, more signing of keys, and for those who do not have PGP keys, we'll yet again go over the basics of public key cryptography, setting up a mail client to use PGP, creating and signing keys.

Bring a laptop if you have one. Spare Linux machines will be available to practice on if you don't. Memory sticks or portable hard drives will help if you plan to use one of these.

You can get a head start with email encryption by installing these:
- GPG
- Thunderbird
- Enigmail

For OTR messaging, follow this guide to get started.

Bring picture ID if you'd like, so people can sign your keys.

Snacks and tasty beverages are encouraged.
