About
Why CryptoParty?
Pricacy is the space in which ideas are developed, to retreat into whenever you want. This space is not only physical but digital as well. Governments and companies don't want to respect that so we become active ourselves.
What is a Cryptoparty?
CryptoParties are open for everyone but especially for people without prior knowledge that didn't dare attend yet, for free and most of all fun.
CryptoParty is a decentralized movement with events happening all over the world. The goal is to pass on knowledge about protecting yourself in the digital space. This can include encrypted communication, preventing being tracked while browsing the web and general security advice for computers and smartphones.
To try the programs and apps at the CryptoParty bring your laptop or smartphone.

Cade Diehm: Not all Group Chat Apps are Created Equal
Online services are essential to personal and professional life. But which of these tools can be relied upon to keep your work and communication safe? How private is “private”?
This talk covers the privacy implications and risks of popular online services (such as Slack or HipChat), explores the different philosophies these services have towards user data and privacy (e.g. zero-knowledge), and offers practical advice on making informed choices when assessing these applications.
Cade will help everyone install and configure SpiderOak Semaphor after his talk
Cade Diehm is a designer & researcher who focuses on emergent technology, privacy, user empowerment, and online identity. He has led projects in Australia, Singapore, Japan and the US. He currently serves as Design Lead at SpiderOak, working on privacy tools for humans.
