Where: Multikulti 1000 N. Milwaukee, 4th floor

When: Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 3-6pm

We'll gather to discuss how to communicate more securely in an age of wide-spread government surveillance. The US government is gathering a massive amount of data of every US citizen, from cellphone locations, to Skype, to info posted on Facebook.

Our goal is to spread practical knowledge and create a culture that respects the privacy of individuals. On Saturday August 10th, we will meet at MultiKulti

What to Bring: Your laptop (Mac, Windows, or Linux OS) and your cell phone. An external hard drive if you have one.

What You'll Get :

- More secure messaging for phones and computers, such jabber accounts, encrypted email, and encrypted voice calling

- Creating secure, encrypted folders on all operating systems

- Installing the TOR browser, which helps hide your identity online

- Using BitTorrent and other file sharing systems safely and securely

- Using best practices, like changing passwords frequently, and data backup
