Have questions about digital security? Volunteers from CryptoParty NYC will be hosting office hours to advise visitors to help answer those questions and provide recommendations on what to do to protect your online privacy. We will be giving them out… In the form of information you can use to put a secure operating system on an 8GB USB. You connect the USB and reboot your machine into the secure operating system and you are ready to go. We will be learning about SUBGRAPH OS, QUBES OS, & TAILS OS

IF you are safeguarding against a higher threat model don't forget the basics. We'll cover topics from threat modeling, to the number one ways “average” people get hacked. These include through their/your email , physical access / shared wifi , data broker dossiers of public info, and by oversharing personal identifiable info online. 7:00pm - 9:00pm: “ LEVEL I” E-mail encryption with GPG/PGP Level I (main floor): Perfect for anyone unfamiliar with secure/encrypted email or whom doesn't mind a refresher. We cover how to send and receive an encrypted message. How to generate, publish, protect, and revoke encryption keys. & “LEVEL II” E-mail encryption with GPG/PGP Level II (downstairs):

a more advanced class that covers operational security & security culture around secure emailing. also covers sub keys, ideas around expirations, comments, webs-of-trust / key signing, and organizational or group keys. secure email and key management using TAILS OS. the pitfalls around secure mobile email & ideas on how to do this in as secure a way as possible.

Requirements: you should bring your laptop! While not necessary it will allow you to follow along with the workshop instructors.
