Next Cryptoparty

Quick Info Rikhardinkatu library, meeting room (Rikhardinkatu 3, 00130 Helsinki) Time 14.00-18.00

Online security is a tricky subject. It all starts from simply making sure your password is not, well ‘password’, and continues to more and more complex efforts to make your movements on the internet private. MyData 2017 conference organisers invited a local Cryptoparty group to teach us about online privacy, and now we invite all of you to join us in a Cryptoparty on May 19th in Rikhardinkatu Library.

Agenda Intro Speech: Why you should care End-to-end encryption: Private messaging on Signal, Whatsapp, and Richochet Anonymous Surfing: Tor browser and some useful tools within Tor

Important notes The space is limited and to make the party run smoothly, we can only host 25 visitors. Be on time, first come first served. We follow Chatham house rules during the cryptoparty. Shortly, we wish to keep the participants anonymous. The event can be reported on social media, but any participant should not be identifiable. Consider if you take pictures that for example laptop backs can have identifiable stickers.

About Cryptoparties in general CryptoParty is a decentralized, global initiative to introduce basic tools for protecting privacy, anonymity and overall security on the internet to the general public. A guiding principle is that Cryptoparties invite people of different expertise come together and learn from each other. All should be explained at the person with the least prior knowledge

Additional resources Time is limited, but if you became interested you can go through more information on your own before the next Cryptoparty appears on the actual Cryptoparty page.

Helsinki Cryptoparty

Friday 19th February 2016, 17.00 Open Knowledge Finland Caloniuksenkatu 9D 64 00100 Helsinki

What?

A Cryptoparty aimed at helping those who wish to protect their privacy online, and learn more about how and why to do so. All levels of experience and abilities are warmly welcomed.

The event will have a brief introduction talk, but most of it will be focused on open discussions in groups and hands-on experience. The groups will allow everyone to find the best discussion topics in relation to their interests and background.

In general we will talk about encryption, tools to use and it's importance and benefits. We want most of all to create a dialogue on the topic between people from different fields.
